THE DAVID A. SADOCK HOUSE LIBRARY & MUSEUM

The David A. Sadock House is a Federal style home, said to have been built in 1870.  However, its style is of a much earlier time. It was built for the McBride family. Oscar E. McBride was very instrumental in the Berwick Store Company, as he was one of the very first clerks. In 1877 Colonel Clarence Gearhart Jackson approached the McBride family and asked if he and his family could rent the house. This was to oversee the building of their new mansion across the street. It would take over two years for the Jackson’s mansion to be completed. This allowed Colonel Jackson to be very close to supervise the construction and fine details of the mansion. When the mansion was finished, Colonel Jackson and his wife Elizabeth along with their two daughters moved across the street. As a gift to the McBride's, the Jacksons left a leather bound wine vat full of wine as a thank you. This vat is now on display in the parlor of this lovely historic building. The vat has traveled thousands of miles to find its way back home and is a great story for our guest. The historic structure consist of two parlors, formal dining room, and three bed chambers and bath on the second floor. The structure still retains much of its original woodwork. The crowning jewel is the parlor fireplace with its intricate carvings and over mantle.

David A. Sadock was born the eldest son of Michael and Joan Sadock. David had three siblings, Robert, Stephanie, and Aaron. David grew up in Berwick, PA and graduated from the University of Scranton in 1988, where he was a Mitrani and Presidential Scholar. He had a successful 30-year career in the pharmaceutical industry. Among many career highlights, David was the youngest person at BristolMyers Squibb Company to be appointed to the position of District Business Manager. He also held key positions in Marketing and Sales at BMS, before starting his own company. In 2002, David co-founded ETHOS Health Communications in Yardley, PA. ETHOS’ success was built on the vision and inspiration of David.  David set out to build a superior medical communications agency that above all else was grounded in science and could fulfill an unmet need in the pharmaceutical and biotech marketplaces: to be a true strategic partner to clients by providing strategic and innovative thinking to help clients achieve their objectives. During his 15 years as CEO, David demonstrated the leadership necessary to make ETHOS’ mission a success. He oversaw its growth from two employees at its inception, to its current 120 employees. David fostered an environment that continues to yield greatness by challenging ETHOS’ teams to think strategically. David valued high scientific intellect combined with creativity and innovation. His energy, passion and unwavering dedication to improving patients’ lives and outcomes, continues to be the foundation of ETHOS. The business was sold to Precision in June 2018, following David’s death in March 2018. David was committed to many charitable causes, and his desire to do more for people with epilepsy led him to serve on the board of the Epilepsy Therapy Project. David was an avid outdoorsman, who loved spending time with his family at their lake house in New Hampshire where he could spend countless hours fishing hunting and being outdoors. David always thought Berwick was a wonderful place because of all the woods and streams.
He also was a dedicated distance runner, having run cross country in high school. As an adult, he completed six marathons and many other races, and was usually training for two marathons a year. He enjoyed running the Berwick Run for the Diamonds because it brought back memories of running it while in high school with his cross country friends.
